If I touch green or gold or silver tinsel… I literally get shivers down my spine! How can something plastic & unnatural be associated with Christmas? Maybe it’s just me, but I much more prefer real trees, pine cones & natural textures. Let me share six tips with you:
I love adding some Christmas spirit to my home every year. I just have a dislike in things tangled around my staircase or colourful decorations hanging everywhere and covering my coffee table, dining room table and windows. It then feels as if my house is in constant chaos and I can’t think straight! So today I want to share with you a few inspirational images how to decorate your house without bling.
TIP ONE: DISPLAY CHRISTMAS PRINTS
Affordable, cheeky and easy to store. Why not print your own? Display them around your home to get into the christmas spirit.
TIP TWO: CHRISTMAS CUSHIONS
Get a few Christmas themed cushions in the same style and colours as the decor in your home. Every December you can just unpack them and mix and match with your existing cushions.
TIP THREE: CREATE A CHRISTMAS BLACKBOARD SCENE
Most of us have a blackboard somewhere in our home. The kitchen, playroom or entrance hall. Get your kids or arty family member to draw a Christmas scene. You can even change it daily!
TIP FOUR: CHRISTMAS ART WALL
Invest in a few framed Christmas prints or decorations that will complement your existing art pieces on your art wall. After Christmas you can just store them away! Keep the frames and background in the same colours as your existing art.
TIP FIVE: GIVE RUDOLPH A PROPER HOME
Instead of hanging poor Rudolph the rein deer from a tree or the ceiling, give him a stylish home on your coffee table in a glass jar. These glass jars are also perfect for natural pine cones.
TIP SIX: FRESH BRANCHES
Affordable and great fun to collect! You don’t have to store them, you can easily pick up new ones every year. You can even paint them white and add a few decorations of your choice.
I hope you feel inspired to think of ways on how to add a few natural Christmas accessories to your home.
I would love to hear more of your own ideas!
