The only way forward for this small, dated, light green kitchen was to start from scratch. To suit a family of six, this home needed a serious update and an open plan concept with a more modern look, more suitable for teenaged boys and family get togethers. We started the design process by moving around some of the interior walls between the kitchen and dining room, creating a huge island bench with a cladded timber beam overhead. We made space for a much needed butler's pantry where the study used to be. This home now has loads of storage space. Shaker doors in white to suit a Modern Country kitchen contrasted well with the timber floors and timber beam. A final master plan was presented to the builder and after a few meetings between us & the builder, the client could continue to implement our design concept by herself. Surprisingly, the client did not need any Council plans for all the changes we suggested!
